Dhobi Ghat Shahery Thath Baat

Prododucer: Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao
Without interval 95-minute's movie Dhobi Ghat is not a movie where public walk in anticipating regular entertainment, it is about Mumbai, the city which is crowded but has enough place for all it's immigrants, it is about the sea, the placid waters that listens to your story and assimilates, keeps all the secrets of it's people and becomes the Mumbai Diaries.

The movie is about four unrelated characters, who happen to discover each other accidently and then continue leading their lives just as they were before. So basically, if they hadn't met, the result of this movie would remain unchanged (right?). Anyway, Arun (Aamir Khan) plays a painter, a man who is fond of his space, feedom. He is a divorcee who is constantly moving from one home to another in quest of something only he is aware of. After a one night stand with Shai (Monica Dogra), an NRI investment banker who wants to capture 'poor India, hungry India'. Shai is also not shy in inviting her Dhobi, Munna (Prateik Babbar) home for tea and then goes ahead to shoot his portfolio, as he wants to be an actor. Arun gets deeply tangled with his new muse, Yasmin (Kriti Malhotra), whose depressing story is filmed in abandoned tapes that he discovers in his newly rented apartment.
Prateik, his eyes reminds one of Smita Patil. He is a reservoir of looks, talent waiting to be tapped. He is a dhobi who's embraced Mumbai for a livelihood and has learnt to live, he is raw, innocent at first thought but the next scene in an apartment suggests that the lady of the house has been having a relationship with him. An aspirant actor he moves around closely with Monica Dogra, helps her with her documentary and gets his portfolio done. He portrays the inhibitions of breaking his class, status, values perfectly in his relationship with Monica Dogra . The scene on the terrace and how he rushes towards Monica Dogra shows his vulnerability, his acknowledgement of reality and gratitude of a human being, as a Mumbaikar, as an actor. Kriti Malhotra commentary on her life is boring, though her work, her portrayal of her feelings from exuberance, to angst, to hopelessness is perfect. Monica Dogra 's character is not perfectly etched, at times you are shown that she is getting attracted to him while taking the pictures and at times it is evident that she is just using him to locate Aamir Khan and for her documentary
Prateik manages a convincing dhobi, rat-killer and gigolo . Monica can be believed as an upper class NRI. Aamir manages his pensive role with great flourish, closely competing with the blob of white hair on his head that tries to steal our attention. Kriti does a great job with her narrative on Mumbai but the story of her life is too boring to endure.
Director Kiran Rao And cinematographer Tusar Kanti Ray constract a rich and intimate portrait of the Mumbai city. Almost locations and over shadow the characters are in and around Mumbai. There is a terrific shot of Aamir walking down the bustling Mohammed Ali Road during Ramzan. In another scene, Prateik covers hisshanty from the torrential rain as local trains whiz by. The movie is a middling debut, watchable due to its nuances but simply not interesting enough to recommend. Yet Kiran Rao seems assured of her craft, and worth looking out for in the future.
Indeed, Kiran Rao deserves applause just for giving Prateik the platform she has, highlighting a raw young actor the industry ought covet. She clearly cares for her characters and has a massive crush on Mumbai, her leading lady. Yet her lovesong, however earnest, just doesn't sound good enough. Finally, movie is a film festival material and it's for intellectual city audiences.

We have a boy who doesn’t believe in love and a girl who only believes in love. ‘I hate luv storys’ is the maxim Jay (Imran Khan) lives by, whose attraction towards girls doesn’t go beyond flirtatious friendships or one night stands. Love, for him, doesn’t exist.
After a series of constant repartees between Jay and Simran, it gives way to a nice friendship, and before she feels it, she is in love with Jay. Our cool dude is in his own world, blissfully unaware of her feelings. So the film is about whether this non believer in love stories will he discover love? The turmoil’s of Jay and Simran’s life, is ironically interweaved with the Luv Story that they are working on…. So it comes till the end whether Jay and Simran will ever find their own Luv Story… Towards the end, the story is simply predictable and here it is that the story adapts to the typical Bollywood ending with the hero rushing bending down on his knees and proposing her with a bouquet of flowers and other goody goody things.
But as an assistant director to a most famous romantic filmmaker of Indian Film Industry, Jay has little option but to live with larger than life, glossy, cinematic love on an everyday basis. Things only get worse when he is made to work under the new production designer on the film… Simran (Sonam Kapoor), with whom he shares the strangest first encounter!Simran loves luv storys; So much so that even her life has begun to resemble one. With her ideal job and the perfect boyfriend, Raj (Sammir Dattani), she lives a blissful, dreamy life; One that is rudely interrupted by Jay’s cynicism.
Simran is happy with her love story with Raj and is just thinks it is just perfect. But the cool dude Jay, is skeptic about Simran’s affair with reminders about her boyfriend Raj’s ‘fugly’ shirts and the sweety-sugary approaches of Raj, which are found only in apna Bollywood films, and of course not, in reality!
I hate Love Story begins well, with very realistic moments about a young guy working in a production house in Mumbai. While the setting in second half shifts to the beautiful country - New Zealand. Lovely scenery of this Kiwi country is beautifully captured by Cinematographer Ayananka Bose. Those tender moments in the romantic New Zealand are awesome. Imran Khan shines in this film and what to mention about the beautiful Sonam Kapoor as the dreamy eyed Simran. Soman has portrayed well the character of a cute gal who can be vulnerable when in love, and icily indifferent when jilted. Samir Soni is brilliant as Veer, the over-expressive Bollywood filmmaker, who constantly weaves the magic of romance on the Indian screen. The handsome Sammir Dattani as Raj is apt in his part of a goody-goody lover who regularly sends white flowers to his girlfriend..I Hate Luv Storys is an enjoyable fare, a typical Mills and Boon type of a story. Go, its worth a watch.

Was Raavan just a myth… the line that divides Good from Evil...?Dev Pratap Sharma (Vikram) is a DSP who falls in love with Ragini (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), a spunky classical dancer. The cop and the dancer girl get married and the DSP is posted in a small town Lal Maati in northern India.Beera (Abhishekh Bachchan), is the law in this a tribal town, who is feared somewhat yet respected and loved by most of the tribals. It is only when the DSP Dev who tries to bring order in this area, and when he metes out inhuman treatment to Beera, it sets a chain of unexpected events which claim lives.
The lines dividing good and evil are blurring fast. What seemed like the hated one turns to love and the good character begins to appear evil.Abhishek Bachchan himself seems confused here, as was the director. Would you expect the audience get convinced of dark sides of an evil character, merely by smearing black make up all over the actor’s face and body. Not only black colour, its ash and muck in several moments. The best performances come from Aishwariya Rai Bachchan and Vikram. Talented actors like Govinda and Ravi Kishan are simply wasted in this story. Is it the same award winning master director who has given us Guru, Bombay, Yuva and Roza? It seems the director was confused himself, since the story is supposed to be about Beera and his tribal community, located in deep forests, who are meted some ruthless killings by the police.
Hurt and enraged, Beera, hits back at the Police force, which results in classes which draw Beera, Ragini and Dev which takes them into the deep, dense jungles. The tension between opposites often seems so electric, that it isolates them from the rest of the world, leaving just the two - all alone...It is during this journey which will test their beliefs and convictions. Dev and Beera must confront their own truth. These dense forests turn into a battleground for the battle between good and the evil, depicting the Ramayana battle.
Most of the times, its just raining and if its not, then the situations are at a waterfall. Also, these tribals of deep jungles, sometimes shown in tattered clothing and but suddenly, for song sequences they appear in ghagras and designer backless cholis with streaked hair! Confusing.

Raajneeti is a story about Indian politics, the democracy and the general elections. It depicts just a few powerful people control the destiny of millions. Master director Prakash Jha who gave us hard hitting films like Apharan and Gangaajal has now come up with the story of people who understand power - and know how to wield it at will. He skillfully portrays their unstoppable ambition, and their bitter and violent battle to achieve it.
It is a contemporary adaptation of politics of power and deriving its primary plot and central characters from the epic. More somewhat like Shyam Benegal’s Kalyug which had the character of Karna, here we have Sooraj who is trapped terrible dilemma where his loyalty to his friend threatens to destroy his own family. Sooraj (Ajay Devgan) is a leader who rose from the backward classes with anger in his heart and leadership on his mind. And yet, his destiny could never overcome the tragedy of his birth.
Here everything is fine with Prithvi leading the party elections and he is visited by younger brother Samar (Ranbir Kapoor). A top businessman who funds the party elections has a daughter Indu (Katrina Kaif), who falls in love with Samar and wants to settle down with him.
But Prithvi, the heir to a powerful political legacy and impatient to seize the top position. He is a man with a heart of gold but who is all brawn. A man whose uncontrollable passions bring his family to the brink of political extinction.
The desperate Veerendra teams up with Suraj the leader of oppressed classes and how he manipulates him into everything including assassination of the current favourite leader.
So we have Prithvi contesting the elections in the place of his father. His younger brother Samar is a cool and a very calculative younger dude who plays his cards well and the set out to win the election. Nevertheless, this cool dude, a master of the craft of political warfare witnesses later - the bloodiest of final battles in a war alien to his character.
t begins with happy times with the current leader who has a party at his house. But suddenly, he gets a paralytic attack and is forced to appoint another head for the political party. He chooses Prithvi (Arjun Rampal), the eldest son of his younger brother, instead of his own son Veerendra (Manoj Bajpai) and thus the whole game of politics unfolds hereon.
Veerendra is shunted away from the core of the party and he decides to revolt. A man who believes he was born to rule, and who will now stop at absolutely nothing to claw his way back to the top.

There is also Bhasker Sanyal (Naseeruddin Shah), the fire-brand leftist leader, as feared for his single-handed ability to challenge the most powerful of leaders as he was respected for his political integrity. Until one private mistake of his hurtled him into a self-imposed exile and spawned a secret consequence that shook the destiny of the political future of the state.
And Brij Gopal (Nana Patekar), who shunned every political ambition even as he continued to mentor and guide the younger generation of leaders while the battle got bloodier by the day.
Rajneeti has an amazing screenplay, airtight script and the array of talented actors has worked together to create a delightful film. There is drama, action, romance and even comedy put across with few memorable songs especially the 'More piya’ number which is played twice in the film
Marvelous performance, especially from Ranbir Kapoor who apparently has a tailor stitched role for him and he is so impressive as the innocent young boy who maneuvers through the matter with sly connivance. Ajay Devgan speaks a lot through his eyes and has yet delivered a memorable performance.
Katrina Kaif, Nikhila Trikha and Shruti Sheth are fine, though Nikhila, as the aristocratic lady has a grand screen presence .Nana Patekar and Naseeruddin Shah, the veterans need no praise at all and there is Arjun Rampal the ruggedly handsome guy plays a passionate character and a fuming young man with ease.

TOH BAAT PAKKI --Not Correct.

Cast: Tabu as Rajeshwari ,Sharman Joshi as Rahul ,Uvika Chaudhary as Nisha, Vatsal Seth as Yuvraaj, Ayub Khan as Vinay, Sharat Saxena, Himani Shivpuri ,Suhasini Mulay, Upasna Singh.
Cast: Singers :Mika Singh Sonu Nigam Javed Ali Shilpa Rao Pritam Chakraborty Rana Mazumder Soham Chakrabarthy Antara Mitra Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

Lyricst: Sayeed Qadri, Mayur Puri, Shabbir Ahmed
Music Director: Pritam Chakraborty
Producer: Ramesh S. Taurani, Kumar S Taurani
Director: Kedar Shinde

Tabu comes back after a long gap. This reason can be enough to watch Toh Baat Pakki. She’s a fine actor who has proved her determination every time. This time, she chooses for a light-hearted comic role in this film .
Rajeshwari [Tabu], married to Vinay [Ayub Khan], dreams of getting her sister Nisha [Yuvika Choudry] married to the most suitable boy within their Saxena community. Also, Rajeshwari is against the dowry system. Rajeshwari finds a good Saxena boy studying engineering and has prospects of a promising future. Rahul [Sharman Joshi] is a good proposition for her sister and she even gets him to move into her house as a paying guest.

However, when Rajeshwari learns that Rahul is not interested in marriage, she smartly devices a plan to bring her sister and make them get to know each other. She's confident that once he meets Nisha, there is no turning away. They fall in love. Rajeshwari is happy. Marriage is fixed.." TOH BAAT PAKKI".

The story takes twists and turns where Rajeshwari tries to set up Nisha with Yuvraaj. Yuvraaj is also a Saxena. He has a good job and is waiting to move into his house. Rajeshwari can't believe her luck. This is a better prospect.
For instance, the portions depicting Sharman helping Tabu during the marriage celebrations are far from convincing. In fact, the screenplay starts losing its grip from hereon. Even Sharman's attempts to poison Himani Shivpuri and Vatsal Sheth's mind appears childish. Ditto for the abduction drama towards the end. The Sharat Saxena track also looks forced.
Kedarh Shinde's direction holds your attention at a few places only. A lot of present-day directors seem inspired by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee's movies. Tabu is a pleasure to watch. She's natural and it must be said that it gets difficult to move your eyes when she's on screen. Sharman, again, is likable and gets it right. Vatsal does fairly well. Yuvika doesn't get much scope. Ayub Khan is passable. Himani Shivpuri and Suhasini Mulay are as usual. Upasna Singh is loud.
On the whole, Toh Baat Pakki has a few interesting moments, but not enough to keep you hooked. It will have to rely on a strong word of mouth, especially from family audiences, to stay afloat.
