Tabu comes back after a long gap. This reason can be enough to watch Toh Baat Pakki. She’s a fine actor who has proved her determination every time. This time, she chooses for a light-hearted comic role in this film .

Rajeshwari [Tabu], married to Vinay [Ayub Khan], dreams of getting her sister Nisha [Yuvika Choudry] married to the most suitable boy within their Saxena community. Also, Rajeshwari is against the dowry system. Rajeshwari finds a good Saxena boy studying engineering and has prospects of a promising future. Rahul [Sharman Joshi] is a good proposition for her sister and she even gets him to move into her house as a paying guest.

However, when Rajeshwari learns that Rahul is not interested in marriage, she smartly devices a plan to bring her sister and make them get to know each other. She's confident that once he meets Nisha, there is no turning away. They fall in love. Rajeshwari is happy. Marriage is fixed.." TOH BAAT PAKKI".

The story takes twists and turns where Rajeshwari tries to set up Nisha with Yuvraaj. Yuvraaj is also a Saxena. He has a good job and is waiting to move into his house. Rajeshwari can't believe her luck. This is a better prospect.

For instance, the portions depicting Sharman helping Tabu during the marriage celebrations are far from convincing. In fact, the screenplay starts losing its grip from hereon. Even Sharman's attempts to poison Himani Shivpuri and Vatsal Sheth's mind appears childish. Ditto for the abduction drama towards the end. The Sharat Saxena track also looks forced.

Kedarh Shinde's direction holds your attention at a few places only. A lot of present-day directors seem inspired by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee's movies. Tabu is a pleasure to watch. She's natural and it must be said that it gets difficult to move your eyes when she's on screen. Sharman, again, is likable and gets it right. Vatsal does fairly well. Yuvika doesn't get much scope. Ayub Khan is passable. Himani Shivpuri and Suhasini Mulay are as usual. Upasna Singh is loud.

On the whole, Toh Baat Pakki has a few interesting moments, but not enough to keep you hooked. It will have to rely on a strong word of mouth, especially from family audiences, to stay afloat.

After a gap four years director Karan Johar’s latest film, My Name Is Khan, attempts to make a social statement and succeeds completely.

This movie is a genuine cinematic attempt at erasing the supposed hatred and prejudices against followers of a particular religion post 9/11. After a long time we find some sparks of brilliance, where he displayed with his first movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Finally he came out of family dramas, Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham , Kabhi Alvida Na Kahana & made his first grown-up film, and made it well.

Rizwan Khan (Tanay Cheda) is a Muslim child who lives with his mother (Zarina Wahab) in the Borivali section of Mumbai. He suffers from Asperger syndrome, a form of high functioning autism complicating socialization. On growing up, he (Shah Rukh Khan =SRK) moves on to San Francisco to live with his brother and sister-in-law. He meets a Hindu single mother, Mandira (Kajol), falls in love with her. They get married despite protests from his family and start a small business. Happily settled, September 11, 2001 strikes their relationship where Muslims undergo a sea-change.

Rizwan and Mandira face a number of difficulties following which they split. Rizwan is upset about his love leaving him and embarks on a touching and inspiring journey across America.
He later meets Radha (Sheetal Menon), a therapist who helps him in dealing with his situation and his affliction. On his journey to clear his name, he meets President Barack Obama (Christopher B. Duncan).

My Name Is Khan, as name itself suggests the movie revolves around one man Rizwan Khan (SRK) who personally battling with a strange mental disorder but externally fighting against seeing whole of Muslim community with suspect after 9/11. He is a man with mission, a missionary of peace.

Director Karan Johar stays with emotional drama. The movie begins with airport security. Searching Rizwan khan and then moves into flashback. Rizwan Khan moves to San Francisco and lives with his brother (Jimmy Shergill) and sister-in-law (Sonya Jehan). Rizwan, who has Asperger’s syndrome, falls in love with Mandira (Kajol). Despite protests from his brother, they get married and start a small business together. They are happy until 9/11. Rest of the movie revolves around Rizwan Khan & his mission.

This is a movie with a message that tells the world all about loving entire humanity. Shah Rukh Khan has taken the role of an autistic person as a challenge which he delivers brilliantly. He is charismatic and wonderful with such a lovable personality. Undoubtedly he is the soul of the movie. After Fanaa, another great performance from supremely talented actress Kajol. The chemistry between SRK & Kajol is heartwarming. They compliment each other very well and this film only proves it yet again.

The film has some capable supporting cast which leaves a solid impact are Zarina Wahab, Jimmy Shergill, Sonya jehan, Arjun Mathur, and Arif Zakaria. Sugandha Garg is confident. Navneet Nishan & Vinay Pathak supports well in a brief role. Tanay Chheda (as child Rizwan ) and Yuvaan Makaar (Kajol’s son) are excellent.
Music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is good & having a sufi soul with wonderful lyrics by Niranjan Iyengar. Sajda, Noor E Khuda, & Tere Naina are some of the melodious songs. The dialogues are very heart touching and more ever the way Shah Rukh delivers them makes them ever so remember able.
Ravi K Chandran’s cinematography is a visual treat. Writer Shibani Bhatija has tried to experiment too many things. The second part could have been more tightened to match up to the gripping first half. Rizwan Khan does so many things that it is hard to keep up.
Overall, My Name is Khan’ is quite good, but not the master piece of cinema it could have been.This is a impressive
movie with a message and is a must watch.My Name is Khan develops into an epic film. It is not faultless by any stretch, but will have you emoting with cinematic euphoria one minute and pulling out your tissues in desperation the next.

Chance Pe Dance is the story of a talented and passionate young struggling actor called Sameer ( sHAHID kAPOOR )Positive and brimming with energy, Sameer juggles various jobs while working towards getting his big break in the industry. During his struggle he meets Tina who is a choreographer.Just when Sameer is promised his big break, he is left without a house as he cannot pay his rent. Not one to lose heart Sam starts living in his rickety old car and starts teaching dance in a school to young kids who have never won any dance competition. He hates kids and the kids hate dancing. The struggle in life continues as the director who was to launch Sameer now decides to choose his hero through a talent hunt. Sam is shattered but he diverts his focus towards the kids. Getting over his initial dislike of children, Sam not only emotionally bonds with them, but also helps them win a prestigious inter-school dance competition and gets their confidence back - aided by the spirited and beautiful Tina (Ganelia D'souza). Tina urges Sameer to enter the reality hunt, with the love and support from Tina and the kids, Sameer emerges a winner and eventually becomes what he was destined to be, a superstar.

The film starts off as the story of a struggling actor Samir (Shahid Kapoor) who works as a courier boy when not knocking on producer’s doors or shaking his jelly feet to impress film directors at discotheques. Luckily by chance, one hotshot director (Mohnish Behl) spots him and promises him a break in his movie. Alongside, Samir befriends and later falls in love with Tina (Genelia D'Souza), a cute, bubbly, scooter-riding stunner who’s the choreographer of Samir’s debut film.
But not all is well for our hero. He gets kicked out of his rented apartment and has no money to rent another place. So, he starts living inside his car and takes up the job of a dance teacher in a school, making the nanhe, naughty taare gyrate zameen par. Things get further worse when Samir gets booted out of his debut film after the producers decide to find a hero through a nationwide talent hunt contest.

Now, even as Samir teaches dance to school kids, he has just one option to take his shot at stardom - participate in the contest. But there’s another tragedy waiting to happen

The music is not peppy enough for footfalls to set the dance floor quaking. The choreography is excellent and cinematography good, even though the editor does seem to have slept at times while doing his job.

The film may not have the emotional quotient of Ishq Vishq, Shahid and Ken's first film that set the box office on fire, yet it does have its moments. A better scripted, less cliched second half would have surely given the film a better chance to dazzle and shake.

Latest movie Rann is not exactly a story revolving around the media-world. Rather it’s the clichéd corrupt politician chronicle set around the backdrop of media industry. Vijay Harshvardhan Malik [Amitabh Bachchan] is the founder of a private news channel, India 24/7. A hardcore upholder of journalistic ethics, his channel is battling for survival. Jay [Sudeep], his son, looks at his father's news channel purely as a business enterprise that must make profits to justify its existence. He hates that his competition [Mohnish Bahl] is doing better than him.
The story takes a turn when a corrupt politician, Mohan Pandey [Paresh Rawal], decides to use the channel to his advantage by using Vijay's son-in-law Navin [Rajat Kapoor]. Pandey aspires to be the Prime Minister and indulges in a vicious campaign against his political opponent.
Navin is the most insecure man on earth and won't rest till he becomes the number one industrialist in the country. He, in turn, involves his brother-in-law Jay in Pandey's game plan.
Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Rann’ may make you feel like seeing another ‘Sarkar’. The movie has a strong theme and is made with the best intention to portray the evils revolving in the society. The movie may sound too idealistic to some but can be a right choice for the thinking viewers. The movie has a serious tone and it goes well with the requirements of the movie.
Harshvardhan Malik (Amitabh Bachchan) owns a news channel which runs on the principle of morals and ideals. Malik believes in presenting the true news and not creating news just to win public. However, his son Jai Malik (Sudeep) runs with the trend and takes media as a source to fill one’s pocket. He joins hand with the opposition leader Mohin Pandey (Paresh Rawal) and uses his channel to conspire against the ruling Prime Minister. Purab (Riteish Deshmukh) steps in to get into the truth of the issue.
Though ‘Rann’ starts very impressively, it begins to lack conviction as it progresses. The end becomes quite predictable and thus the movie lacks the suspense factor. One can easily draw a similarity between the climatic twist in this flick and that of ‘Page 3’. Dialogues are crisp and effective. Amit Roy’s cinematography makes a clear impression in the movie. Since it is a serious genre movie, music restrains itself to the background and it does this for good.
Speaking about the actors, Amitabh Bachchan is good as usual and one begins to feel the intensity of his acting particularly towards the end of the movie. Riteish Deshmukh comes as a surprise package in the movie and proves that he can do serious roles as good as the comedy ones. Paresh Rawal returns to his old genre of negative role after doing several hits of comedy roles. Other actors like Mohnish Behl, Rajat Kapoor, Gul Panag, neetu Chandra, Suchitra Krishnamoorthy, Simon Singh, Rajpal Yadav and Neena Kulkarni justify their roles.
On the whole, RANN is truly a well-made film. No two opinions on that. The film should be patronised by viewers of serious, sensible cinema. “Rann”. It’s a must watch for all who have a thinking soul and know the value of that one single vote you have in your hands which can make all the difference.

Striker is a Hindi action-drama film written, directed and produced by Chandan Arora.
‘Striker’ is another Bollywood tale of an innocent man being driven into the puddle of money-making.The film is based on true-life accounts.Strykar is the story of a carrom player who grows up on the fringes of a criminal existence but does not succumb to it.
Sidharth starrer Strikar is set in a Bombay (now Mumbai) in the mid ’80s,In Striker Sidharth plays a role named Suryakant Sarang who born into a poor family and grows up with minimum luxuries. Suriya couldn’t attend school because of his poor health – that is when his elder brother introduces him to carrom. Surya wins the Junior Carrom Championship at the age of 12 but is not enough to him on fire for the sport burning through adolescence.
Hopes for a job in Dubai replace the passion for carrom, as Suriya grows into a young man. Overseas employment agency dupes Suriya loses all his hard earned money he had saved for going to Dubai. But life has ways of testing even the strong. Striker is the story of a friendship, life in the city of dreams in the 80’s, a story of a game that is most common but non-existent. Striker storyline of a Carrom player who grows up on the fringes of a criminal existence but does not succumb to it Surya reaches Mumbai after his out of town trip and finds himself in an environment of communal riot. Surya is stopped by the police official, Faroukh (Anupam Kher). He gets trapped in the course of movie and eventually loses all the money that he had collected to go to Dubai. It is at this stage that he is re-introduced to carom but this time it is not just a game. He plays carom for gambling and stands face to face with the dreadful gangster, Jaleel (Aditya Pancholi) whom he hates since his childhood. He had always tried to keep away from Jaleel and his wickedness but ultimately finds himself standing in front of him.

The movie is made with the best of intentions and with a sensible theme. Dialogues are crisp and powerful. Like any other Bollywood movie, ‘Striker’ too has a love plot which never finds scope to grow fully. Noorie (Nicolette Bird), the love life of Surya gives a fresh impact to the audience. Friendship shared between Surya and Zaid (Ankur Vikal) is commendable and forms one of the main veins of the story.















Producer-director Chandan Arora makes a fruitful attempt in story
telling technique and manages to keep the audience watching. However, at times the plot weakens and tends to confuse the audience with the introduction of sub-plots. Songs are pleasant to ear and contributes to the progress of the movie.Siddharth poses a natural acting and shows his capability to shoulder a Bollywood movie on his shoulder. His work is highly appreciable and succeeds in maintaining the ‘Rang De Basanti’ magic. Nicolette Bird is pretty but finds no chance to show her acting skill. Anupam Kher and Aditya Pancholi show themselves to be experienced actors. Ankur Vikal, Anup Soni, Seema Biswas and Padmapriya suit their role perfectly.
The movie fails to leave an unforgettable impact and the movie will be acceptable only to limited audience, leave alone the weak hearts.
